Reduce photo size to under 200 KB

Bring a large camera photo under 200 KB, with quality that is close to the original.

About this size: 10–200 KB

At 200 KB most photos keep their detail; the main saving comes from scaling a 12-megapixel camera image down to a sensible 1000–1600 pixels. If your file is still above the limit after that, the tool lowers the quality in small steps rather than one big drop.

Everything runs in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded. The preset sets no fixed pixel size and the file size to 10–200 KB; you can change either in the options.

How to use it

  1. Drop your photo on the box, or click to choose a file. JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC all work.
  2. The preset "Photo up to 200 KB" is already selected. Press "Use whole image", or move the frame to crop.
  3. Press Resize image. The tool finds the best quality that fits the file size.
  4. Check the preview and the size shown, then download the JPG and upload it to the form.

Features

  • Exact size. Any shape you like, with the frame locked so nothing is stretched.
  • Exact file size. 10–200 KB. Too big is shrunk step by step; too small is padded to meet the minimum.
  • Private. Nothing is uploaded; the work happens on your device.
  • All presets. Switch to any other form size, or use pixels, cm, mm, inches or percent.

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep the original shape of my photo?

Yes. Press "Use whole image" to resize the whole picture. Nothing is cropped unless you move the frame.

How do I get the photo under 200 KB?

Choose the image, keep this preset and press Resize image. The tool lowers the JPG quality in small steps, and scales the picture down only if it has to, until the file is below 200 KB. The result shows the final size.

Does 1 KB mean 1000 or 1024 bytes?

Websites count differently, so the tool aims at 1000 bytes per KB for the maximum, which passes either way, and 1024 for the minimum.

Is my photo uploaded to your server?

No. The image is resized in your browser and never leaves your device.
