Image Compressor

Shrink JPG, PNG and WebP images, many at once, with a quality slider or a target size in KB. Nothing is uploaded.

What is the Image Compressor?

Photos from phones and cameras are often 3–10 MB, far more than needed for email, WhatsApp, websites or upload forms. The Image Compressor re-saves them at a sensible quality, which usually cuts the size by 60–90% with no visible difference.

Use the quality slider for general use, or set a target such as 100 KB per image when a website has a limit. PNG graphics are reduced to an optimised colour palette, like popular PNG shrinkers, and keep their transparency. If an image cannot be made smaller, the original is kept and you are told so.

How to use it

  1. Drop your images on the box, or click to choose them. Paste works too.
  2. Choose Quality or Target size, and the output format.
  3. Optionally limit the largest side, for example to 1920 pixels.
  4. Click Compress, compare before and after, and download one image or all as a ZIP.

Features

  • Many images at once. Compress a whole folder of photos in one go.
  • Quality or target size. Pick a quality, or a KB limit per image, such as 100 KB.
  • Smart PNG compression. Reduces PNGs to an optimised palette while keeping transparency.
  • Resize while compressing. Limit the longest side to 1280, 1920, 2560 or 4000 px.
  • Before and after. Exact sizes, savings, and a side-by-side comparison slider.
  • Removes hidden data. Location and camera details are not copied into the compressed files.

Frequently asked questions

Will compressing reduce the quality?

At the default 75% quality, differences are very hard to see on screens, while files are usually 60–90% smaller. Use the comparison slider to check, and raise the quality if you see blockiness.

How do I compress an image to 100 KB?

Choose “Target size”, enter 100 KB and click Compress. The tool finds the best quality under 100 KB, and makes the image smaller only if it has to. For exact pixel sizes for forms, use the Image Resizer.

Which format gives the smallest files?

WebP is usually 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality and keeps transparency. JPG is the safest for compatibility. PNG suits screenshots and logos.

Why did one image not get smaller?

It was probably already well compressed. When the result would be the same size or bigger, the original is kept.

Is there a limit on the number of images?

No fixed limit. Very large batches depend on your device’s memory; 50–100 photos at a time works well on most computers.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Compression happens in your browser.
