What is the App Icon Generator?
Android and iOS each need an app icon in many sizes. Android wants legacy launcher icons for five screen densities, round icons, and adaptive icons (a foreground and a background layer that the launcher masks into circles, squircles or teardrops). Google Play needs a 512 × 512 store icon, and Xcode needs an AppIcon set with a Contents.json file.
Upload one square image, ideally 1024 × 1024, choose a background colour and how much space to leave around the artwork, and preview the result in the shapes different phones use. One click downloads a ZIP laid out exactly as Android Studio and Xcode expect: res/mipmap-* folders with XML for adaptive icons, and Assets.xcassets/AppIcon.appiconset.
How to use it
- Upload a square image of at least 1024 × 1024 px (PNG with transparency is best).
- Pick a background colour for adaptive and iOS icons, and set the artwork size.
- Check the previews in circle, squircle and rounded square shapes.
- Choose the platforms and download the ZIP.
- Copy the res folders into app/src/main/res, and the AppIcon set into your Xcode asset catalog.

Frequently asked questions
What size should my app icon source image be?
1024 × 1024 pixels, square, in PNG. Bigger images are scaled down cleanly; smaller ones will look soft on high-density screens and in the App Store.
What is an Android adaptive icon?
Since Android 8.0 (API 26), launchers draw icons from two layers, foreground and background, each 108 dp square, then cut them into the device’s shape. Only the central 66 dp circle is always visible, so keep important artwork inside it; the artwork size slider here does that.
Can iOS icons have transparency?
No. App Store icons must be fully opaque; iOS applies the rounded corners itself. Transparent areas are filled with your background colour.
Where do I put the Android files?
Copy the folders inside android/res (mipmap-mdpi … mipmap-xxxhdpi, mipmap-anydpi-v26 and values) into app/src/main/res in your project, replacing the existing ic_launcher files. Make sure your manifest uses android:icon="@mipmap/ic_launcher" and android:roundIcon="@mipmap/ic_launcher_round".
Does this work for Flutter apps?
Yes. Copy the Android res folders into android/app/src/main/res and the AppIcon.appiconset into ios/Runner/Assets.xcassets, replacing what is there.
