About the 35 × 45 mm photo
35 × 45 mm, also written 3.5 × 4.5 cm or 4.5 × 3.5 cm, is the most common passport size in the world. Indian passport applications ask for it with a plain white background and the full face visible from the front. The oval and the eye line in the tool show where the head and eyes should sit for this size, so you do not have to guess the proportions.
The photo is cropped and saved on your device; nothing is uploaded. Requirements differ by country and change over time, so always check the latest rules on the official website of the authority you are applying to.

Frequently asked questions
How many 35 × 45 mm photos fit on a 4 × 6 inch sheet?
Six or more, depending on the gaps. The tool fills the sheet with copies and adds cut lines. Print at 100% / actual size, not "fit to page", so each photo is exactly 35 × 45 mm.
How should I take the photo?
Stand about a metre in front of a plain, light wall, facing the camera in even daylight without shadows. Keep a neutral expression, eyes open and the whole head and shoulders in view. Ask someone to take it from eye level; selfies distort the face.
How do I print it at the right size?
Download the sheet and print it at 100% or "actual size", never "fit to page". Then cut along the guides.
Does it need a KB limit for an online form?
The single-photo download has an optional file-size limit in KB. For exact pixel and KB presets, see the Photo & Signature size pages.
