What is the Image Color Picker?

Need the exact blue in a logo, the colour of a product, or a palette to match a photo? Open the image, move over it with the magnifier and click to pick. Each colour is shown in HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV and CMYK, ready to copy into CSS, design apps or print specifications.

The tool also finds the image’s main colours automatically, which is a quick way to build a colour scheme from a photo. Picked colours are kept in a list so you can collect several before copying.

How to use it

  1. Drop an image on the box, click to choose one, or paste a screenshot.
  2. Move over the image: the magnifier shows the exact pixel. Click to pick it.
  3. Copy the colour in the format you need, or use one from the main colours palette.

Features

  • Keyboard and touch. Arrow keys move the picker one pixel; Enter picks. Tap to pick on phones.
  • Private. The image is read in your browser and never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get the HEX code of a colour in an image?

Open the image here and click the colour. The HEX code (such as #18488B) appears with a Copy button.

Why does the colour look slightly different elsewhere?

Photos have noise and shading, so neighbouring pixels differ a little. The magnifier helps you pick the pixel you want. Colour profiles and screen settings can also change how a colour looks.

What is CMYK for?

CMYK is used for printing. The values here are a simple conversion; for accurate print colours, ask your printer for their colour profile.

Can I pick colours from my screen, not just an image?

In Chrome and Edge, the “Pick from screen” button lets you pick any colour on your screen. In other browsers, take a screenshot and paste it here.

Is my image uploaded?
