What is the Unlock PDF?
Banks, telecom companies and employers often send statements and payslips as password-protected PDFs, typically locked with a date of birth or part of an account number. Typing that password every time is tiring, and some upload forms reject protected files. Unlock PDF saves an unlocked copy, once you enter the password.
It also removes printing and copying limits from PDFs that open without a password but will not let you print or copy. This tool cannot guess or crack passwords: you must know the password, and you should only unlock files you are allowed to.
How to use it
- Drop the protected PDF on the box, or click to choose it.
- Type its password (not needed for files that only block printing or copying).
- Click Unlock PDF. The unlocked copy downloads straight away.
Features
- Removes the open password. The saved copy opens in any reader without asking.
- Removes restrictions. Printing, copying and editing limits are lifted too.
- All encryption types. Works with RC4 and AES (128 and 256-bit) protected PDFs.
- Nothing uploaded. Your PDF and its password never leave your device.
- Original unchanged. A new copy is saved; the locked original stays as it was.
Frequently asked questions
I forgot the password. Can you unlock it?
No. This tool needs the correct password and does not try to guess it. For bank and card statements, the password format is usually given in the email that came with the PDF, for example the first four letters of your name followed by your date of birth.
Is it legal to remove a PDF password?
Removing the password from your own documents, or documents you are allowed to use, is fine. Do not use it to get around protection on documents you are not permitted to open or change.
The PDF opens without a password but will not print. Can this help?
Yes. Those files only have an owner password with limits. Drop the file and click Unlock PDF; no password is needed.
Is the unlocked copy safe to email?
Anyone who receives it can open it, so think before sharing sensitive documents. You can add a new password with Protect PDF.
Is my password sent anywhere?
No. The file is decrypted in your browser and the password is not stored or sent.
