What is the Markdown to HTML?
Markdown is the simple formatting used in README files, GitHub, documentation sites, chat apps and many blogging tools. This converter turns Markdown into clean HTML that you can paste into a website, an email template or a CMS, and shows a live preview of how it will look.
It also works the other way: paste HTML from a web page or editor and get tidy Markdown, including tables, links, lists and code blocks. GitHub-flavoured Markdown (tables, task lists and strikethrough) is supported in both directions.
How to use it
- Choose Markdown → HTML or HTML → Markdown.
- Paste your Markdown or HTML, or click Example.
- Switch between the HTML code and the rendered preview.
- Copy or download the result.
Example
## Hello **Bold**, *italic* and a [link](https://novaradix.com).
<h2>Hello</h2> <p><strong>Bold</strong>, <em>italic</em> and a <a href="https://novaradix.com">link</a>.</p>
Features
- Both directions. Markdown → HTML and HTML → Markdown in one tool.
- Live preview. See the rendered result as you type, with safe, sanitised HTML.
- GitHub-flavoured. Tables, task lists, strikethrough, autolinks and fenced code blocks.
- Line break option. Turn single line breaks into <br>, as in GitHub comments and chat apps.
- Markdown style options. Choose # or underlined headings, - or * bullets, and fenced or indented code.
- Private. Your documents are converted in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Which Markdown flavour does it use?
CommonMark with GitHub-flavoured extensions (tables, task lists, strikethrough and autolinks), the same style used on GitHub and most documentation tools.
Is the HTML safe to put on my website?
The converter outputs exactly what your Markdown describes, including any raw HTML you wrote in it. The preview on this page is sanitised, but if you publish Markdown written by other people, sanitise the HTML on your server too.
Why did my single line break disappear?
In standard Markdown a single line break is just a space; a blank line starts a new paragraph. Turn on “Line breaks → <br>” to keep single line breaks.
What happens to scripts and styles when converting HTML to Markdown?
They are removed. Markdown cannot represent them, and leaving them as text would only add clutter.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Conversion happens in your browser.
