What is the EXIF Viewer & Remover?

Photos taken on phones and cameras carry hidden details called metadata: the date and time, the camera or phone model, settings like ISO and shutter speed, and often the exact GPS location where the photo was taken. When you share the original file, anyone can read this.

The EXIF Viewer shows everything stored in a photo, with a clear warning when it contains a location. The remover then saves a copy without EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC and comments. For JPG, PNG and WebP this is done without re-compressing, so the picture itself is identical.

How to use it

  1. Drop one or more photos on the box, or click to choose them.
  2. Click a photo to see its details: summary, location and every tag.
  3. Choose whether to keep the colour profile and rotation, then click Remove metadata.
  4. Download the clean photo, or all of them in a ZIP.

Features

  • Everything in one view. Camera, lens, exposure, dates, software, plus every raw EXIF, XMP and IPTC tag.
  • Location warning. Shows GPS coordinates on a map link, so you know before you share.
  • Lossless removal. JPG, PNG and WebP are cleaned without re-compressing the picture.
  • Keeps photos upright. Optionally keeps only the orientation, so photos do not turn sideways.
  • Batch cleaning. Clean many photos at once and download them in a ZIP.
  • Private. Photos are read and cleaned in your browser and never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Do WhatsApp and social media remove EXIF data?

Most social networks and WhatsApp (for photos sent as images) remove location data, but files sent as documents, by email, on cloud drives or through many websites keep it. Cleaning the photo yourself is the safe option.

Will removing metadata change my photo?

For JPG, PNG and WebP, no: only the hidden data blocks are removed, and the picture is byte-for-byte the same. Other formats, such as HEIC, are re-saved as JPG or PNG.

Why keep the orientation?

Phones often store photos sideways with a tag saying how to turn them. Without that tag, some apps show the photo sideways. Keeping only the orientation removes everything else but keeps the photo upright.

What is the colour profile?

It tells apps how to show colours accurately, especially for photos from newer phones (Display P3). It contains nothing personal, so keeping it is recommended.

Can I edit the date or location instead?

Not with this tool. It shows and removes metadata, which is the safest choice before sharing.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser.
