What is the Epoch Converter?

The Epoch Converter is built for working with real data: paste a column of timestamps from a log file, a database export or an analytics report and convert them all at once into dates in any of the world’s time zones, from IST and UTC to America/Los_Angeles.

It also answers the questions that come up when writing queries and reports: what is the epoch for the start of today in India, or the last millisecond of this month in New York? Pick a date and time zone to get the start and end of the day, month and year as epoch seconds and milliseconds.

How to use it

  1. Choose the time zone you want dates shown in.
  2. Paste timestamps, one per line (seconds, milliseconds, microseconds or nanoseconds).
  3. Copy the converted table as CSV for your spreadsheet.
  4. Below, pick a date to get start and end epochs for that day, month and year.

Example

Input
1767225600
1767312000000
Output
1767225600 · seconds · 1 Jan 2026, 05:30:00 IST
1767312000000 · milliseconds · 2 Jan 2026, 05:30:00 IST

Features

  • Batch conversion. Convert hundreds of timestamps at once, each unit detected separately.
  • Every time zone. All 400+ IANA time zones, with daylight saving handled correctly.
  • Day, month and year boundaries. Start and end epochs for date-range queries and reports.
  • CSV export. Copy the results as CSV to paste into Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Works with log formats. Picks the number out of each line, so pasted log lines work too.
  • Private. Uses your browser’s time zone database; nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Is epoch time the same as Unix time?

Yes. Both count from the Unix epoch, 00:00:00 UTC on 1 January 1970. “Epoch time” is just another name for a Unix timestamp.

Why do I need start and end of day epochs?

Database and analytics queries often filter by a time range, such as everything that happened “today” in India. That range starts at 00:00:00 IST and ends at 23:59:59.999 IST, which are different epochs than midnight UTC.

How is daylight saving handled?

Time zones such as America/New_York or Europe/London change their offset during the year. The converter uses your browser’s IANA time zone database, so every date gets the offset that applied at that moment.

Does India have daylight saving?

No. India Standard Time (Asia/Kolkata) is UTC+5:30 all year.

Is my data uploaded?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser.
